Injury And Fracture Service

Fractures can occur to anyone, at any time in their life. Treatment of a fracture is focused on restoring function as quickly and as fully as possible. While many fractures will heal on their own, some are best treated surgically. Often, surgical treatment will ensure more complete recovery, and allow for restoration of function much quicker. Although fracture care has been a part of orthopedics since its very beginning, specialists in fracture care are committed to using techniques that are both leading edge and time tested to ensure that your recovery is the best it can be.

Often a fracture will occur in conjunction with other injuries. When that happens, surgeons at the Dr. Birinder Singh-hospital & Maternity center work closely with some of the regions top experts in Trauma Care, at Certified Trauma Centers. This ensures that all of you injuries will receive optimal care.

Trauma

Orthopaedic trauma is any severe injury to the bones, joints, and/or soft tissue that is caused by an external source. These injuries are often the result of a sudden incident, such as a car accident or fall, but not always. Trauma can also be caused by overuse – for example, running long distances is a common cause of tibial stress fractures, small hairline cracks in the lower leg.

The Dr. Birinder Singh-hospital & Maternity center provides expert care for all aspects of traumatic musculoskeletal injuries, including inpatient and outpatient orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation, and orthotics and prosthetics. Our orthopedic surgeons are board certified with fellowship training and years of experience in treating these conditions.

  • Due to the minimal invasive (surgical) nature of TKR, the recovery is faster than earlier methods.

  • Getting back to routine activities within a month.
  • A long-run result due to modern technology of prostheses and devices used within world-class medical aids.

Total Hemi Hip Replacement

Total Hemi Hip replacement is a surgical procedure in which the hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant, that is, a hip prosthesis. Hip replacement surgery can be performed as a total replacement or a hemi (half) replacement. Such joint replacement orthopaedic surgery is generally conducted to relieve arthritis pain or in some hip fractures. A total hip replacement (total hip arthroplasty) consists of replacing both the acetabulum and the femoral head while hemiarthroplasty generally only replaces the femoral head. Hip replacement is currently one of the most common orthopaedic operations, though patient satisfaction short- and long-term varies widely.
